Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the most important obstacles to creative thinking among primary school students from the perspective of their teachers in the State of Kuwait. The sample of the study consisted of (700) male and female primary school teachers in the State of Kuwait. The researcher prepared a questionnaire that included (32) items distributed on four dimensions of obstacles, namely: Obstacles related to the curriculum, obstacles related to the school environment, obstacles related to teachers, and obstacles related to primary school students. The results of the study found that there are obstacles from the perspective of their teachers’ primary school when developing creative thinking for primary school students, and they are arranged as follows. Obstacles related to the school environment, then the obstacles related to the school curriculum, then obstacles related to the elementary school teacher, and finally obstacles related to the elementary school student.

The results also showed that there were no differences attributable to the gender variable. The study recommended the necessity to developing creative thinking among primary school students, and to intensify training courses specialized in creativity for primary school teachers and the need to develop curricula.
