Abstract

This paper examines features of the influence of the French writer Albert

Camus on the works of Kuwaiti writer Ismail Fahad Ismail, represented by "the

Quatrain of the illuminating marshes" using the french method in comparison.

This influence is manifested especially in depicting personalities, and in the

intellectual vision, and in certain conditions, theme and styles. And Ismail Fahad

Ismail has interacted in his youth with aesthetic and intellectual ideas of Camus

when he was searching for an identity of ideological belonging and was

suffering from psychological frustration as a result of other people's suspicion on

his patriotic belonging.

The paper concludes that Ismail Fahad Ismail was lacking original aesthetic

and itellectual vision in "the Quatrain of the illuminating marshes", but was

emulating excellently elements of that vision.
