Abstract
We study the quality of piecewise-quadratic Lagrange interpolation for nonparametric data based on e -uniform sampling and different forms of exponential parameterization. Surprisingly, it turns out that there is a sharp discontinuity in the quality of interpolation: exponential parameterization performs no better than a blind uniform guess, except for the case of scaled cumulative chord, which matches parametric interpolation.
