Abstract
A delayed rumor propagation model with psychological factors and forgetting mechanism is formulated. The local stability of the rumor-free equilibrium and the rumor-prevailing equilibrium is discussed by analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations. Using Lyapunov functional, we prove that the rumor-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number R0 ≤ 1. Also, a sufficient condition is obtained for the global asymptotic stability of the rumor-prevailing equilibrium when R0 > 1. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the theoretical results.
