Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the French language program at the University of Jordan from students perspective. The study participants consisted of (102) students were chosen purposefully who have shown interest to participate in this study. To collect quantity and quality data and information for this study, the researcher developed a questionnaire consisted of (35) items. The validity and reliability of the study instrument have been confirmed before implementing it. Means, standard deviations, percentages, Analysis of Variance and Tukey Test for post comparisons were used to answer the study questions. The results showed that the students’ estimations for the French language program at the University of Jordan was moderate on all components (the philosophy of the program, its goals, the study plan, services and facilities, teaching and evaluation methods). The results also indicated that there are statistically significant differences in students’ evaluation of the program due to the stage of education. Moreover, the results pointed out to a number of suggestions and improvements of the French language program at the University of Jordan. The most important ones focused on French conversation and the development of teaching methods. In light of these findings, the researcher recommends to continue to offer French language program at the University of Jordan.
