Abstract

This study aimed to identify the benefit from the services and facilities provided at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, to the students with disabilities, the study was implemented by applying a questionnaire consisting of (44) items distributed in five dominos: (supportive university environment, attitudes of students with disabilities towards a center University services for the disabled, facilities provided for students with disabilities by their faculty members, facilities provided for students with disabilities by colleagues at the university, personal performance of a student with disabilities), used the descriptive survey method, the sample consisted of (64) students with disabilities (totally blind, physical and health disabilities). The results showed that disabled students highly profit from the provided services and facilities to them by the Center for Disabled Services at the university, and from the facilities provided to them by their teachers, and from the facilities provided to them by colleagues at the university. Moreover, the students gain lower profit –medium profit- from the supportive university environment that consist of appropriate facilities, feeling of equality, happiness, comfort, and inclusion. From the disabled students view about themselves the results showed an average level of satisfaction, and there are statistically significant differences in the degree of utilization of the services and facilities provided to students with disabilities by colleagues at the university, in favor of students of the higher academic level, and there are statistically significant differences in relation to the view of the student with a disability about himself, in favor of physical and health disability. The study recommended a number of recommendations, including meeting the psychological, educational, social, sports, recreational and cultural needs of students with disabilities, and working to remove the obstacles and difficulties that limit the integration of this group in the university community in order to build positive attitudes towards them.
