Abstract

This research deals with the phenomenon of literary annotations. It focuses on the concept of the term and its scientific value going all the way back to the emergence stages of these annotations in the Arab Mashriq (Middle East) and Arab Maghreb (Northwest Africa). This research also refers to the historical development of this writing style over the centuries by citing works in this regard and determining the most important texts with the highest share of annotations.
