Abstract

The rapid and deadly spread of COVID-19 in 2020 has been accompanied by a wave of panic and fear in several countries around the world. The situation has worsened with the need to comply with drastic measures ranging from barrier gestures to confinement. The challenge was to avoid any risk of contamination that could be fatal both for oneself and for those close to them. The need for information about the situation was accompanied by a pressing need to relieve the malaise that intensified as the virus persisted. As a result, a number of comical content shares about the crisis proliferated on social networks. To identify the implications, we analyzed the discourse of a set of these recordings, which allowed us to recognize the mediating role that these contents played, whether implicitly, explicitly, intentionally or unconsciously.
