Abstract

The dedramatization of public speaking often remains at the center of requests for training in “expression”. Breaking the silence often represents an act of great violence for the student. Who is the player ? who is the played ? For around fifteen years, to understand the micro-rituals, the unspoken gestures of daily life, teaching throught theatre or role-playing has been provided in our schools and universities.

Why the choice of dramatic play? Theater presents this rare particularity of designating in a clear and visible way the two inseparable instances of all cultural practice: the actor and the spectator. If many teachers use the theatrical act in their pedagogy, does it not each time demonstrate the communicative nature of all human activity. Play is much more then learning a role : it is not the simple opposite of work, relaxation, leisure : and the playful activity does not summarily counterbalance the functional or professional activity. Also, we will try to show that dramatic acting is “learning language throught the body”.
