Abstract
Urban forms emerged in many unplanned locations as a result of the phenomenon of chaotic urban expansion brought on by population growth and without restrictions, which led to the existence of neglected slum areas that became marginalized and were not subject to the planned and studied urban. These regions are characterized by economy, social and environmental decline. This is what made the state turn to creating important investment projects next to some of these areas as an attempt to develop those areas, solve their problems, and help in their growth and development.
This article examines the extent to which development projects have affected neglected or marginalized areas by using a set of criteria that were developed to assess the degree of success and impact of these projects. Through analyzing the state’s future vision for development and the extent of the importance of community participation in decision-making and determining Appropriate projects and how to implement them. Then find criteria for evaluating these projects and then linking them to marginalized areas by studying the impact of these projects on these areas and applying all of that to a case study of one of the marginalized and neglected areas (Shata Region) and the established investment development project. This is done through field visits to the region and conducting the necessary questionnaires to reach results, and then developing a set of recommendations that may contribute in the future to finding thoughtful scientific methods to identify appropriate development projects for these areas.
