Abstract

The title complex, containing N2O2 donor sites, synthesize by reacting N, N’- ethylene bis ( salicylideneiminate) with sodium hydroxide dibromoethane in a methanol: water (60:40) mixture in a 1:2:1 ratio, respectively , followed by the addition of cupric chloride (1 mol)has been characterized by elemental analysis, spectrosecopic data ( IR, electronic and EPR), electrochemical study, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurement. The results of these studies reveal that the macrocyclic complex is non- ionic and copper(II) is paramagnetic and maintains its octahedral configuration by being surrounded by six atoms (two CI, two O and two N) cyclic voltammetric study indicates that CU (II) is the prominent form in this complex.
