Abstract
This study aimed at investigating semantically the collection of poetry for Ibn Abd Rabbo; a semantic study in the poetry of lamentation; this study reveals the nature of language, which the poet adopted in building his poems in terms of constructing the fields, simplicity and unfamiliarity, clarity, and depth, the messages they carry, the symbols and metaphors, since language is the tool used by the poet and enables him build his poems. This study focused on lamentation poetry only as applied model. The researcher used the descriptive analysis adopting the statistical method to describe the poems and compositions semantically; talk about Lexicon the poet used in purpose of (Lament), add semantic relations, metaphors and methods of language found in the poetry of Lament. Then the study ended with the most prominent linguistic and semantic features, which spread in the collection of poetry in general and poetry of lamentation in particular.
