Abstract
he aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of using mind maps in improving brain hemispheres (right, left & whole) skills and attitudes towards self- directed learning in Saudi Arabia undergraduate female students in Riyadh. The sample consisted of (76) students at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University: (39) as experimental group and (37) as control group. Psychometric characters for two instruments were found then used before and after the experiment: one for measuring brain hemispheres (right, left & whole) skills and the other was attitudes towards Self- directed Learning scale. Results showed significant differences in favor of experimental group which means the effectiveness of mind maps in improving brain skills and attitudes towards self- directed learning.
