Abstract

The study aimed to detect the level of each of the metacognitive thinking and social adjustment, and the effect of metacognitive thinking in the social adjustment among an expatriate students by schools in the Hail. The sample of the study consisted of (217) students: (106) males and (111) females. The study used two scales: Metacognitive thinking scale of the Aljarrah & Obeidat (2011), and social adjustment scale of a Alsoghair (2001). The results showed the median level in each of the metacognitive thinking and social adjustment, and the differences in metacognitive thinking dimensions to the gender in the favor of males, Except the organization of knowledge dimension in the favor of females. And the differences in social adjustment to the gender in the favor of females. Also, the results indicated that there were significant relationships positive between metacognitive and social adjustment, These relationships were for males stronger than for females.
