Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the goal orientations and openness to experience among the educational counselors in Hebron Governorate. The study community consisted of all educational counselors in Hebron governorate (216 counselors); the study tools used were distributed to (201) counsellors. The goal orientations scale and the openness to experience scale were distributed to the study sample. The results showed that the degree of goal orientations, adopted by educational counselors on the performance approach goals and the avoidance goals came with a medium degree for performance goals average of the total degree of openness, was achieved. The results showed that the degree of objective orientations adopted by educational counselors on the scale dimensions came with a medium degree on each of the performance approach goals and performance goals – avoidance, while it came with a high degree for the mastery goals. The degree of openness towards experience also came to with a moderate degree, as a mean of the openness towards experience is (2.85) with a percentage of (57.0%). Furthermore, the study also showed a positive relationship between performance approach goals, as well as the performance goals - avoidance with openness to experience, and the presence of a negative, non-statistically significant relationship between the goals of empowerment and openness towards experience
