Self-Alienation and its Relationship to Electronic Games Addiction among Yarmouk University Students
Abstract
The study aimed at identifying the level of self-alienation and electronic games addiction among a sample of Yarmouk University students and the relationship between them. To achieve the aim of the study, the two researchers followed the correlational descriptive approach, in which two scales were distributed after ensuring their psychometric properties; the first was a self-alienation scale, and the second was the electronic games addiction scale. The sample of the study consisted of (1057) male and female students from Yarmouk University. They were selected through an affordable method. The results showed that the level of self-alienation among Yarmouk University students was moderate, with a ratio weight of an estimated (59.6%) of the overall average and the level of electronic games addiction among Yarmouk University students was moderate too, with a ratio weight of an estimated (56.4%) from the overall average. The results also revealed a positive correlation between self-alienation and electronic games addiction among Yarmouk University students.
