Abstract
This study aimed at exploring the status and ways of improvement of academic communication between students and faculties in the Palestinian universities. The researchers used the descriptive analytical method to achieve study objjectives. A 57- item questionnaire with one open ended question was dist tributed to a sample of (502) male and female graduate students from the Palestinian universities for the academic year 2005/2006. An interview with 10 faculty members at the Palestinian universities were conducted to explore their viewpoints about the graduates responses about the status of academic communication and ways to improve it at the Palestiniian universities. Results of the study revealed that lecture and discussion were the most commmon methods of communication at the Palestinian universities compared to the use of Internet and WebCT. There were no statistically significant differeences at (α ≤ 0.5) in graduates’ responses regarding the ways of communicattion in the Palestinian universities reality in addition to obstacles related to gender and college. Several suggestions were proposed to improve academic communication at the Palestinian universities amongst them is the diversificcation of the methods and medias of academic communication that fits with the taught subjects in addition to improving the University environment.
