Abstract

The tale is a narrative unit through which Al-Jahiz could present his tales in his books. The structure of the tale differs in his book Al-Bukhala’ form his other books, because the entire book is about the misers . He indicecates the principle of stinginess and its philosophy by means of these tales which he varied in the method of their narration by different forms, specially the narrative introduction which amounted to tens of forms. Al-Jahiz presesented the narrative and the one narrated to. With Al-Jahiz the narrator was one, two or three. The narrative was either several pages or several words.

As for the one narrated to , he could be known or anonymous . Al-Jahiz didnot forget time and place in his tales. He presented the description in its two parts, the sensory and the psychological . As for his characters, he divided them into two parts: either a miser who is a victim or a victorious miser . For him the structures of the tale includes all the required elements of the artistic structure.
