Abstract

This paper reports on a study conducted to compare the effect of a Suggested Teaching Program ( STP) versus the Ordinary Program (OP) in developing Al hamza writing, at the short and long term achievement of the 6th graders in the Arabic language Jordanian curriculum.

A total of (90) Students of the 6 th grade participated in the study during the first semester of the academic year 2008/2009, the sample was divided randomly into two equal groups: Experimental group studied by the STP, and Control group studied the same subject by the OP. Pre- Post test was conducted before and after teaching both study groups after checking validity and stability using Person Correlation Factor (r=0.92). The results of the Analysis showed that there is a statistically significant difference (α = 0.05) in 6th grader’s achievement in Arabic due to teaching method, in favor of the STP, While it showed no statistically significant difference (α = 0.05) between males and females achievement, and no statistically significant difference

(α = 0.05 ) in the achievement due to the interaction between methods of teaching and Gender. The study recommends that teachers should merge theoretical and practical aspects in teaching Alhamza writing skills.
