Due to the importance of scientific literacy in our life, this study aimed to investigate the level of Scientific literacy of the first secondary grade , and its relation with their achievement in physics and scientific literacy indicators of their families and schools.
The sample of this study consisted of 192 male and female students in Irbid first Directorate of Education, ( 94 boys and 98 girls). Two statistical models were used: Level of scientific inquiry test and scientific literacy indicators questionnaire. The results indicated that the level of scientific literacy among the secondary grade students was medium. Significant statistical differences appeared between the scientific literacy of the first secondary grade students and their achievements in physics. No significant statistical differences appeared due to the family and the schools’ cultural indicators.
