Abstract

The study aimed to identify the relationship between psychological hardness and professional adjustment attributable to some variables among academics of Gaza universities. The two researchers designed and used the psychological hardness and professional adjustment scales. The sample consisted of (200) male and female lecturers; 156 were males and 44 were females. The findings showed that the academics of Palestinian universities enjoy a moderate degree of psychological hardness and a high degree of professional adjustment. This research found positive correlation between the psychological hardness and professional adjustment measures. However, there are no statistically significant differences in psychological hardness among academics attributable to the variables of sex and university, in addition to the presence of statically significant differences in psychological hardness attributable to the academic degree in favor of higher degrees. Also, there are statistically significant differences in psychological hardness between Humanities and Sciences faculties in favor of the former. Moreover, the findings indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in professional adjustment attributable to the variables of sex and university besides the existence of differences in professional adjustment between Humanities and Sciences colleges in favor of the former.
