Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the effect of the structural empowerment on psychological empowerment at the public Jordanian organizations. Four structural empowerment Requirements were studied: Authority delegation, Personal development, Participation, and Development of Creative Behavior. Elements of psychological empowerment include: competence, meaningfulness, self-determination, and influence. The study population included all public sector organizations on the Jordan. Random sample of (40) organizations were selected, four employees from each organization were chosen. The total sample was 160 employees. The response rate was 81.8% for employees. The results showed that the structural empowerment requirements were available in a moderate level in all the organizations (3.67), the highest levels were in participations, Development of Creative Behavior and Authority delegation. The psychological empowerment was high in general (4.17) with the highest value for competence, meaningfulness, influence, and self-determination. The results also showed that there was a significant effect of structural empowerment on psychological empowerment. The study recommended that the structural empowerment requirements be provided in more advanced levels due to their important role in achieving psychological empowerment.
