Abstract


The study aimed at investigating effectiveness of teaching 9th grade syntax textbook, syntactic concepts, according to theories of Noam Chomsky & Ferdinand de Saussure in Jenin District.Using the experimental approach, the study consisted of 513 9th graders in UNRWA schools, Jenin District. The sample, 100 students, was randomly selected from the First Jenin Basic School For Boys and divided into three groups: two experimental and control.The results were as follows: Firstly, there are no statistically significant differences in means of students’ grades of the three groups: the first experimental group (Chomsky), the second experimental group (de Saussure) and the control group in the pre-achievement test for.
Secondly, there are statistically significant differences in means of students’ grades of the first experimental group (Chomsky) and those of the second experimental group (de Saussure) in the post-achievement test for the first experimental group.
Thirdly, there are statistically significant differences in means of students’ grades of the first experimental group (Chomsky) and those of the control group in the post-achievement test for the first experimental group.
Fourthly, there are statistically significant differences in means of students’ grades of the second experimental group (de Saussure) and the control group in the post-achievement test for second experimental group.
