Abstract

This research aims to provide an analytical reading of Al-Kaffal’s poem in his reply to a letter that was sent by the King of the Romans in which he threatened the Abbasid Caliph, Al-Mutee’, to occupy the lands of the Muslims . And also he tried to reduce the bad effects of Nakfour’s letter in the Muslims’ hearts and refuted his statements by proofs and evidence.
The poem was characterized by its historical importance in which it included a response to the clear reference contained in Nakfour’s message who took the cross as a slogan to his campaign on the lands of the Muslims, and invoking the desire to protect his religion, and this is the slogan that is used as the basis of the Crusades campaign later.
