Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the impact of the role of the professional supervisor on the development performance of the educational counselor from the point of view of the educational counselors themselves. The sample of the study is composed of (36) counselors as a pilot sample out of (72) educational counselors who are working in Bethlehem governorate. The control sample is consisted of all Jericho educational counselors, represented by (24) counselors, and not have been subjected to professional supervision at all. The researchers used a questionnaire built and designed specifically for the current study. The study did not show any statistically significant differences in the development performance of the educational counselors due to the variable of the presence of professional supervisor. The statistically significant difference came in favor of the control group in the aspect of the field visits. Moreover, the study did not show any statistically significant differences in the development of the educational counselors in the experimental group due to gender variables of supervisor or gender of counselors or according to the years of the counselor's employment. Based on this study, the researcher recommended more comprehensive field study includes all the governorates of the country and more specific supervisory skills used by the supervisors. The researchers emphasize on the role of decision makers in the Ministry of Education and high education to work on a challenged strategy, to develop the performance of the professional supervisors administratively, functionally, and financially, and to adopt it as a persistent professional supervision strategy in the structure of the Ministry due to its positive impact.
