Abstract
This research aims to shed light on the problem of teaching the science of information and communication in the Jordanian public universities ,since there is only one out of ten public universities teaches media and communication science. Especially in light of the increasing need of Jordanian society and institutions for more qualified scientific staff to face the latest developments and media and communication developments represented in the use of the Internet and social media. This is what required decision makers in higher education obliging Jordanian universities to teach media and communication culture as a compulsory subject for undergraduate students. The results showed that all Jordanian public universities except Yarmouk University do not teach media and communication sciences. It was found that there are many views among Jordanian academics in Jordanian universities on the importance of media and communication sciences; it has become clear that: the independence of the media and communication sciences had become a necessity.
