Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the effect of an educational suggested programme based on multimedia on the development of strategic thinking skills for basketball juniors players in Jordan. The study sample consisted of 30 juniors players from the Rosary Sisters School affiliated to the Directorate of Education in Aqaba. Fifteen of the juniors players represented the experimental group while the other 15 juniors players represented the control group. The researcher used the Quasi-experimental and Qualitative Methodology to conduct pre and post tests and also an interview for its suitability to the setup of this study. The researcher used the following statistical treatments: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Cronbach's alpha. The results of the study had shown that the development of strategic thinking skills using the computer had a positive effect on the experimental group when comparing the results of the pre and post measurement. The study had also shown that there are no statistically significant differences in the post measurement for the control group on the strategic thinking level. Therefore the researcher recommends the Ministry of Education to recognize the need to put its interests in utilizing computers in physical education lessons.
