Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the speech and language therapy services, provided for students with disabilities in special education centers and speech centers in Jordan in accordance with the international standards. In order to achieve the study objectives, the researchers prepared a scale to evaluate the speech and language therapy services, which are provided for students with disabilities in Jordan in accordance with the international standards. The scale consisted of (58) paragraphs divided into six dimensions. The scale was applied on the study sample, which consisted of (100) centers in the governorates of Irbid, Amman and Al-Karak. The results of the study indicated that the extent of international standards applicability to the provided services at centers for people with disabilities in Jordan reached (65%) with an average applicability. Also it was indicated that there wee significant statistical differences in the averages and standard deviations in the level of speech and language services in the centers of people with disabilities due to the variable of center type and the specialization of the people who are working in these centers. The study reached several recommendations. The most prominent recommendation was the necessity of providing centers with the international standards, the scientific methodologies and field studies in which they will be able to provide distinguished services.
