Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed at investigating the reality of using social networking sites among university students who were registered in the course of social responsibility at the Jordan University Science and technology. The researchers developed a questionnaire and confirmed its validity and reliability before initiating data collection process. A purposive sampling method was used to recruit 400 students of the course were chosen purposely at the beginning of the first semester 2018-2019. The results of the study showed that YouTube was the most preferred site used by the study sample and they primarily used the social networking sites for communicating with their relatives and colleagues. Students commonly reported cultural topics. The results did not show statistically significant differences based on gender, educational level, and specialty variables. In light of the findings of the study, the researchers recommended conducting similar studies for students from all specialties of the university faculties.

ملخص: هدفت هذه الدراسة الى الكشف عن واقع استخدام مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي لدى الطلبة الجامعيين والمسجلين في مساق المسؤولية المجتمعية في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا, وللإجابة عن اسئلة الدراسة قام الباحثان بتطوير استبانة لجمع البيانات, بعد التأكد من صدقها وثباتها, وقد تكونت عينة الدراسة من (400) من طلبة المساق تم اختيارهم بالطريقة القصدية للفصل الدراسي الاول 2018-2019. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن موقع اليوتيوب كان المفضل عند عينة الدراسة, كما أن دوافع استخدام مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي تمثلت بدافع التواصل مع الأهل والزملاء, وأن الموضوعات الثقافية كانت من أهم الموضوعات التي يتعرض لها الطلبة عند استخدامهم لمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي, كما اظهرت النتائج عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة احصائية تعزى لمتغيرات الجنس, والتخصص, والمرحلة الدراسية لدرجة تفضيل الطلبة لمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي. وفي ضوء ما توصلت الدراسة إليه من نتائج أوصى الباحثان إجراء دراسات مماثلة لطلبة المساقات في جميع تخصصات كليات الجامعة.
