Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a training programbased on programmed learning in teaching reading skills for the fourthgrade students with learning disabilities in Amman, fourth Amman teachinggovernorate.The sample of the study was selected purposively and consisted of (40)female and male students; (20) female students and (20) male students anddivided into two groups: control and experimental. The experimental groupwas taught by the computerized program and the control group was taughtby the traditional method.The duration of the study was (6) weeks, three classes a week, each classwas (45) minutes, with a total of (18) classes. The researcher has prepared ascale to examine reading skills. ANCOVA was used to examine the effect ofthe program on the reading skills.The results showed the following:1. The results showed in general that the training program in this studywas effective in improving teaching the reading skills for students withlearning disabilities.2. There were differences in the reading skills for the control and experimentalgroups in favor of the experimental group due to the program.3. There was no statistical significant effect for the interaction between thetwo variables: program and sex
