Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the level of career commitment ofpsychological and social specialists in mental health centers, and investigatingthe effect of some variables on the degree of their commitment.Also, the studyaimed at ranking the variables according to importance.Finally, the studyaimed at identifying obstacles facing career commitment of the psychologicaland social specialists.The sample consisted of (90) psychological and socialspecialists chosen deliberately from the population consisting of (106)specialists with (0.899%) .The participants responded to a questionnaire of(37) items, distributed into three dimensions: content of work, working withof team spirit, and career ethics.The results analyzed by using (SPSS) revealed that career commitmentfor psychological and social specialists in health centers got high degree(4.11) .No significant differences due to gender and job location were found.But significant differences were found due to (salary and job location) and(gender, salary, and job location) in favor of males with low salaries.Females'career commitment increases alternatively with their salary rates.The study also revealed that the most important obstacles facingpsychological and social specialists are: Bureaucracy, routine, lack of jobrewards, and negative view of the psychological and social specialists fromsociety.The researcher recommended some changes related to work policylike promotions and improvement in job conditions.
