Abstract

This study aims to determine the effective of counseling psychologicalprogram (cognitive - behavioral) in reducing the feeling of shyness amonga sample of gifted adolescent female students in Saudi society. The sampleconsisted of 16 female students from the third grade and their ages arebetween 14 to 16 years. The researcher applied the shyness measurewhich was prepared for this study on the current sample, and then dividedthe sample into two groups: the control group which consisted of 8 femalestudents and the experimental group which consisted of 8 female studentsfrom gifted adolescent female students. The counseling psychologicalprogram (cognitive - behavioral) was applied on the experimental grouponly. The results showed the following:1. There are statistically significant differences in the level of significance(0.05) between the averages ranks degrees of members of the experimentalgroup related to shyness attributable to psychological guidance program(cognitive - behavioral) .2. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance(0.01) between the averages ranks of members of the two groups (controland experimental), where the decline is evident in the experimental groupaverages ranks degrees on the scale of shyness (sub- dimensions andtotal degree) attributable to counseling psychological program (cognitive- behavioral) .3. No statistically significant differences between the averages ranks degreesof members of the experimental group between what comes after andwhat and what follows the measurements on a scale of shyness (subdimensionsand total degree)
