Abstract

The researcher aimed to reveal the reality of the problem ofunemployment in the Palestinian community, its social and psychologicalcauses and consequences, and to identify the role of private and governmentalinstitutions in the Palestinian society to provide solutions to the problem ofunemployment among university graduates.The study examined the following assumptions: there are no differencesof statistical significance at the level (a ≥ 0.05) between the social andpsychological effects of unemployed university graduates in Palestiniansociety attributed to the variables of sex, place of residence, type of housing,monthly income of the family, the type of work required familiarity of thegraduate with the employment opportunities.The study used the descriptive methodology as well as the questionnaireas a tool to collect data from the field, and applied on a random samplestratified with a total number of (154) graduates.The study concluded the following results:1. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological effects on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society areattributed to the variable of sex.2. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society are alsoattributed to the variable of GPA.3. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society are alsoattributed to the variable of place of residence.4. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society are alsoattributed to the variable of type of housing.5. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society are alsoattributed to the variable of monthly income.6. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society are alsoattributed to the variable of type of work.7. There are some statistically significant differences at the level ofa = 0.05. Therefore, the social and psychological impacts on theunemployed university graduates in the Palestinian society arealso attributed to the variable of the graduate's familiarity withopportunities allotted in the labor market.
