The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of a group- counselingprogram in reducing depression and enhancing self- esteem among drugAddicts in Al- Amal Hospital in Saudi Arabia. The population of the studyconsisted of all drug addicts in Al- Amal Hospital in Jeddeh in Saudi Arabia.The researchers selected an available sample consisted of (30) individualswho agreed to participate in the study, and were divided randomly into twogroups: (15) to form the experimental group and (15) to form the controlgroup. The researchers administrated the counseling program on theexperimental group.The findings of the study showed that there were significant statisticaldifferences at the level of (a<0.05) in reducing depression on Beck scalein favor of the experimental group, which indicated the effectiveness of thecounseling program in reducing depression. Moreover, the findings of thestudy showed that there were significant statistical differences at the levelof (a< 0.05) attributed to group effect on self- esteem scale in favor of theexperimental group.
