The first experimentalgroup used the colored overlays only, while the second experimental groupused the colored overlays in addition to a teaching program to improvetheir reading ability. A post- test of reading rate test were applied on thethree groups and their results were as follows: There was no significantdifference at the level (a= 0.05) between the first experimental group thatused only Irlen colored overlays and the control group in improving literacy. There was a significant difference at the level (a= 0.05) between the secondexperimental group (Irlen colored overlays with educational program)and the control group in improving literacy. The experimental group hada higher mean. There was a significant difference at the level (a= 0.05)between the group used Irlen colored overlays and the group used Irlencolored transparencies with educational program in improving literacy. Thegroup used Irlen colored overlays with educational program had a highermean. According to the results of the study, the researchers have come upwith recommendations such as: studies and researches should be made at alarger scale targeting the different categories of special needs to have moreaccurate feedback and results.
