Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the degree of optimism among divorced women in Hebron. The study also aimed at showing whether there is a statically significant difference in the averages of optimism among divorced women in Palestine due to (age, work status and educational level). In order to achieve the goals of the study, the researcher constructed a measure of optimism by referring to a number of studies that targeted a sample of 200 divorced women in Hebron. The collected data was analyzed by calculating the arithmetic mean, standard derivations and T-test, it was also analyzed by analysis of variances (one –way Anova) and t-test (Scheffe). The results of the study showed that the degree of optimism among divorced women in Palestine is fair. The results also showed statistically significant differences due to age variables in the averages of optimism among divorced women in Palestine in favor of women ages (30 years). The results also showed statistical significant differences due to work status in favor of working women and significant differences due to level of education in favor of women who got (university education). In light of these results, the researcher came out with a set of recommendations. He called for the necessity of activating the various guiding programs that help women in general and divorced women in particular to improve the degree of optimism. He also called for the preparation of outreach programs in the concerned institutions to women to deal with the negative effects of divorce and the resulting psychological and social problems.
