Abstract

The present study aimed at exploring the relationship between abnormal family climate and emotional problems among adolescents. The study also sought to explore if there were differences between males and females in the abnormal Family climate and in the emotional problems. The sample consisted of 389 students in Homs City. The researcher used the abnormal Family climate scale prepared by Mario Rahal, in addition to the scale of social problems that the researcher had designed. The study results indicated that there was a significant relationship between the students’ scores in the scale of abnormal family climate and its subscales and the students’ scores in the scale of social problems and its subscales. Moreover, there were significant differences between the overall score of the male students and the overall score of the female students in the scale of abnormal Family climate and some subscales. There were no differences between males and females in their overall score in the scale of social problems, but there were differences in some subscales of social problems scale.
