Abstract

The study aimed at exploring the relationship between transformational leadership and practicing learning organization at the universities of Hebron and Palestine Polytechnic from the point of view of their academic staff through using the descriptive approach. The study population consisted of 329 academic staff members during the academic year 2016/2017. A stratified random sample of 130 individuals was selected. The researcher used a questionnaire which included items that measure the level of practicing transformational leadership and items that measure the level of practicing learning organization. The results revealed that the degree of practicing learning organization and transformational leadership at the universities of Hebron and Palestine Polytechnic from the point of view of their academics was high with an arithmetic mean of 3.86 for the learning organization and 3.43 for the transformational leadership. Moreover, there was a high positive correlation and statistical significance between learning organization and transformational leadership at both universities with a correlation coefficient of 0.841 and level of significance (a=0.01). Furthermore, there were no significant differences at the level of significance (a ≤ 0.05) in the degree of practicing the learning organization and transformational leadership at both universities from the point of view of their academic staff. The researcher concluded a number of recommendations. First, the need for encouraging the academic staff to benefit from their mistakes at work by taking advantage of a constructive feedback and not to use these mistakes to punish the employees. The study also recommended the need for bringing the perspectives of the employees closer to each other and developing plans to avoid the University’s future risks and challenges. Moreover, the study recommended the need for promoting the spirit of challenge among employees, and rewarding those who excel at their work in addition to meeting the staff professional needs.
