Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of extracurricular activities in the development of social responsibility among female students of public secondary schools in Riyadh, out of activities leaders’ view. This will be done through measuring the level of enhancing extracurricular activities for the concept of social responsibility, exploring obstacles that limit enhancement of responsibility values, means of developing the social responsibility, level of difference in responses of activities leaders according to variables of study; kind of the school building, experience years as activity leader, number of training courses of the activity programs.

The researcher depends on the analytic and descriptive methodology, as the questionnaire tool was applied on samples which are all leaders of activity at public high schools in Riyadh, whose number (244) leaders.

The study resulted in:

- Level of enhancing the extracurricular activities for the concept of social responsibility among female student (high) out of view of activities leaders.

- Approval of activities leaders (moderate) upon obstacles that limit enhancing extracurricular activities for values of social responsibilities of female students.

- Approval of activities leaders (high) upon means of developing social responsibility through extracurricular activities of female students.

- There are differences with evidence between averages of samples’ responses toward (obstacles) according variables of number of courses, to be for those who have lower than five training courses.

In the light of these results, the researcher recommend:

1. Offering training courses for activity leaders in the field of activating activities through program of enhancing social responsibility.

2. Motivating family responsible on participation of female students in extracurricular activities outside the school; to enhance their social roles.

3. Liking activities with society’s institutions and activating their roles in developing the social responsibility for female students.
