Abstract

The research aimed to explore marital communications skills for a group of middle- aged women in Saudi society in the light of some demographic variables such as place of residence, age, educational level, family income, existence of work, years of marriage, number of children, and having another wife. The researcher uses a descriptive comparative method. The Marital communication scale by (Albalawi, 2019) was administered to a sample consisted of (1800) wives in Saudi society, their age between (40 - 55 years old). Results shows that:1- there are no statistically differences regard to marital communications skills for the sample if we consider the variable of the place of residence. 2- There are statistical differences regarding to age and educational qualification. 3- There are no significant differences in marital communications skills like (connecting with self, managing marital problems and expressing emotions) for middle aged women if we consider the variable of income of my family. 4-There are no significant differences in in marital communications skills for this sample if we consider the variable of the existence of work.5- There are statistically differences regard to (emotional expression, listening and talking and the skills of marital interaction in all) when considered the years of marriage. 6- There are statistically differences in (communication with self) when we considered number of children.8- There are significant differences in in marital communications skills when we considered the variable of existence of other wife.
