Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the levels of both lateral thinking and passive procrastination and the relationship between them among students from Jeddah University and Khulais Colleges in in light of specialisation and location. To achieve the goals of the study the current researcher prepared lateral thinking and passive procrastination scales. The sample consisted of (400) male students from Jeddah University and Khulais Colleges in Math and Arabic language materials. Results of the study revealed that levels of the lateral thinking and passive procrastination for the study sample were in the average level. There were significant differences between students' scores in lateral thinking for students in Jeddah University. On the other side, students in Khulais Colleges scored higher in passive procrastination than Jeddah University students. In addition, math's students in Jeddah University scored higher in lateral thinking than those in Khulais Colleges. Furthermore, there were significant differences between Arabic language' students in regard of the passive procrastination for Khulais Colleges students. Also, there was a negative significant correlation between lateral thinking and passive procrastination. Finaly, the study found that the passive procrastination can be predicted through lateral thinking.
