The aim of the current research is to develop the cognitive achievement of first-grade middle school pupils by using the contract learning strategy in teaching social studies and to acquire some geographic research skills among first-grade middle school students using the contract learning strategy in the teaching of social studies, and in light of the results of the exploratory study and the results of previous studies, the research problem was identified. The current existence of weakness in the level of first-grade intermediate students in cognitive achievement, and the acquisition of some geographical research skills, and given the importance of the contract learning strategy and its steps that may contribute to treating poor cognitive achievement and the students ’acquisition of some geographic research skills. The current research seeks to try to use it to remedy the deficiencies. They have, and the study recommends the necessity of presenting strategies based on self-learning, such as a contract learning strategy, to suit students' capabilities and meet their needs in expanding and deepening their knowledge and ideas, and the need to pay attention to geographical research skills in the preparatory stage, and what this requires from reviewing social studies curricula in the preparatory stage to include training and activities that motivate students I have to use geographical search skills.
