Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent of the effectiveness of an enrichment program in developing the mathematical skills of the kangaroo competition to raise the level of results for gifted students in grades five and six in Royal Commission schools in Jubail. The study sample included 70 students from grades five and six who were randomly divided into two groups: control and experimental. A quasi-experimental design was used using pretest and posttest to answer the research questions. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between the performance of students of the experimental and control group on the post-test in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed that the enrichment program has proven effective in developing mathematical problem-solving skills given in the kangaroo exam and enrichment exercises. The study concluded with recommendations, including the importance of including in mathematics courses more scientific enrichment activities that are commensurate with the abilities of gifted students, meet their needs and develop creative thinking.
