Abstract
This study aimed to identify the degree to which faculty members at Jordanian universities practice social responsibility, the problems they face, and the proposed solutions from their point of view. The study adopted a descriptive survey approach, and the researchers developed a questionnaire consisting of three sections. To achieve the objectives of the study, direct interviews were conducted with faculty members at Jordanian universities to identify the problems preventing them from exercising social responsibility and to propose solutions to those problems. The study population consisted of all faculty members in several public and private universities in the northern region of the Irbid governorate, totaling 3,089 faculty members. The study sample comprised 423 faculty members, who were selected through convenience sampling. The results showed that the degree of social responsibility practice among faculty members at Jordanian universities, from their own viewpoint, was rated as medium. The results also revealed no statistically significant differences attributed to the variables of gender, college, academic rank, and university type. However, statistically significant differences were found related to the variable of academic rank, favoring assistant professors. The researchers recommend that faculty members incorporate community-based plans and courses for students into their responsibilities.
