Abstract
The study aimed to identify intellectual dependency and its role in influencing postgraduate students' commitment to scientific research ethics in educational colleges at Jordanian universities from their perspective. It also sought to enhance their commitment and to examine the presence of statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) in the responses of the study sample based on variables such as gender, academic level, university, and academic year. The study adopted a descriptive survey approach, and a questionnaire consisting of 56 items was developed to collect the necessary data to achieve its objectives. The study sample comprised 375 postgraduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) from Jordanian universities, out of a total population of 12,548 students across Yarmouk University, the University of Jordan, and Tafila University. The questionnaires were distributed electronically via email and in paper form through university fieldwork. The results indicated that postgraduate students in educational colleges generally had a moderate level of commitment to the ethics of scientific research from their perspective. The analysis further showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to gender across the domains as a whole, except for the research problem and plan preparation fields. The study emphasizes the need to provide intensive courses and training to raise awareness and improve commitment to scientific research ethics, along with periodic workshops and awareness-raising initiatives aimed at educating individuals about the importance of adhering to research ethics in all its aspects.
