Abstract

This study investigates the issue of extremism in religion from two aspects, theoretical and procedural. The theoretical aspect focuses on the conceptual context of the term extremism, its emergence and Islam’s view about it. The procedural aspect studies the University of Jordan students’ view about extremism in religion as for its causes and solutions. This is done by using a questionnaire, as a tool for studying the subject.

The study reached the conclusion that the extremism phenomena is considered as an old phenomena that can be found in the human thoughand beliefs, this is due to misunderstanding or bad intention. Islam has rejected these phenomena. The procedural approach to the subject has shown high percentage in understanding both causes and solutions for the phenomena of extremism, this reflect a good awareness of the subject amongst the study sample.
