Abstract
Honey and royal jelly are two functional bee-hive products with antioxidant activity. This study aimed at investigating the total phenolic content, antioxidant capacity and radical scavenging activity of royal jelly, multiflora honey and citrus honey. Royal jelly, multiflora honey, and citrus honey samples were analyzed for the total phenolic content using Folin-Ciocalteau method, for total antioxidant capacity using FRAP assay. Also, DPPH assay was used for assessing radical scavenging activity. The results revealed that the total phenolic contents, the total antioxidant capacities, as well as DPPH scavenging activities of RJ were higher than those of Multifloral and citrus honey,. Furthermore, there were positive correlations between total antioxidant capacity and between DPPH and total phenolic content in all samples. It is concluded that royal jelly is of superior total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity
