Abstract

The study was designed to identify the role of Jordanian public universities in facing the phenomenon of intellectual extremism from the point of view of faculty members. The study sample consisted of (970) teaching staff members of the study society. The analytical descriptive method was used to achieve the objectives of the study. Jordanian government in the face of the phenomenon of intellectual extremism.

The results of the study revealed that the general average of the measure of radical extremism carried by the extremist in the Jordanian society was high and with an average of 4.12. The item that states "the extremist rejects dialogue and discussion" ranked first with an average of (4.24) the item, which states that "the extremist believes that his ideas are true and that the ideas of others are wrong" ranked second with an average of 4.24 and high. The item that states "it is difficult to give up his ideas easily" ranked third with an average of (4.20), The item came stating that "the extremist gets upset by criticism Others have "rank before the last arithmetic average (4.02) and high degree, while the item which states" raise his voice when discussing the extreme of others "ranked last with a mean (3.97) and is highly ranked. The results showed statistically significant differences in the scale of the manifestations of intellectual extremism in Jordanian society from the point of view of the faculty members according to the gender variable. The differences were in favor of males. The differences were in favor of the age group (25 to 35 years) and (more than 35 years). The differences in favor of the rank of associate professor and professor and the general average of the measure of the role of Jordanian public universities in facing the phenomenon of extremism from the point of view of faculty members as a whole was high and with a mean average of (4.19), where the field (curricula determined by the university) My account (4.23) and high, and ranked third (4.27) and high score, while the field of (university) ranked last with an average of (4.17) and high degree. The results showed significant differences in the field of faculty member and the field of curriculum decided by the university. The differences were in favor of males and there were statistically significant differences. The differences were in favor of the age group (45 years and over). There were statistically significant differences in the field of school curricula determined by the university between the age group (25 to 35 years) (25 to 35 years) and (45 years and over) on the other (A = 0.05) in the field of the university between the age group (25 to less than 35 years) on the one hand, and the category (45 years) And more. On the other hand, the differences were in favor of the age group (45 years and above) and there were statistically significant differences in the level of the educational responsibility of the universities as a whole between the rank of assistant professor on the one hand and the rank of associate professor and professor on the other. , And there were statistically significant differences between the rank of associate professor and professor. The differences were in favor of the rank of associate professor
