Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the intellectual and political views of the Islamic thinker Ibn Taymiyyah towards the issues of power, wilayah and Caliphate in Islamic political thought, so the study relied on the historical analytical method in achieving its goals, and it was found through the study that Ibn Taymiyyah had made many contributions to the subject of succession in political thought. Islamic thought, and one of the most important features of political thought is that it relied on the Qur’an and Sunnah in its analysis of the issue of caliphate and governance in Islam, and Ibn Taymiyyah believes that the origin and duty of wilayah is the rightly-guided caliphate based on the method of prophecy, and that resorting to another form of wilayah, such as the king, is an exception. Ibn Taymiyyah focuses on establishing Islamic Sharia and its provisions and achieving and defending the interests of the nation more than the form of the political system, and Ibn Taymiyyah stresses the necessity of the existence of the ruler or the sultan and that his presence is more suitable for the nation and stresses the necessity that the sovereignty of Islamic legitimacy and the need to implement it on the ground through enjoining good and forbidding For evil and bring interests and pay purposes
