Abstract

This research attempted to determine the role of the Jordanian media's involvement in combating social violence from the perspective of Jordanian media professionals, The study employed the descriptive survey method, with the study population consisting of all media professionals affiliated with the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate (1337) and the study sample consisting of (740) media professionals chosen by random stratified method for the 2020/2021 year.To gather data for the study, a questionnaire was created, consisting of seventeen paragraphs that looked at the reality of the role of Jordanian media in dealing with societal violence from the perspective of Jordanian media professionals. Appropriate statistical analyses were carried out to address the study's two questions, yielding the following results:

From the perspective of Jordanian media professionals, the reality of the role of Jordanian media in confronting societal violence was average, as these paragraphs as a whole embodied arithmetic mean (3.31) and a standard deviation (.399), and the paragraph (Jordanian media promotes good human ethics) came in first, while the paragraph (Jordanian media seeks to broadcast violent content) came in last. The results showed that the effect of the variables: age, academic level, and media institutions caused statistically significant differences at the significance level (a = 0.05), with the age variable favoring (50 years and more), the academic level variable favoring (PhD)and the job variable favoring (50 years and more). The findings also revealed that the influence of the variables: gender and experience had no statistically significant differences at the significance level (a = 0.05).

It came from the variable of media institutions in favor of the media organization, and it came from the media in favor of (the journalist) (the television).

Based on the findings, the study recommends increasing Jordanian media interest in broadcasting programs that focus on rejecting violence within Jordanian society, as well as working on future studies that focus on finding solutions to societal violence and raising awareness of the need to produce programs, films, and animations that reflect the society's values and customs.
